Newest update has West Georgia including Metro Atlanta under a level 4 out of 5 risk for severe storms. I’ve only seen this once in my 9 years in Atlanta. NOW is the time to prepare. A full blown tornado outbreak is expected Saturday.

Tropical Cyclone Helene is expected to roll through the region Thursday and Friday. However, before Helene arrives we need to be aware of the potential for Flash Flooding in northern Georgia Wednesday and Wednesday night. We noted the potential for a Predecessor Rain Event (PRE) a day or so ago, and it is looking like one may occur (or something similar). PRE's are notorious for heavy rainfall and flooding well in advance of a tropical cyclone that catches people off guard, especially when they are focused on the location of a tropical cyclone. If you live in Atlanta or north Georgia please be aware that the risk for flooding in your area will begin to ramp up tomorrow!
