With temperatures starting to drop as we head into the rainy season, we're thinking about our unhoused neighbors could that use a hand. We've also learned that our friends at the are shorthanded due to budget cuts, right when the needs of the community become more pressing. We'd like to help out, and invite you to join us to make this winter easier for the unhoused community.

Aside from monetary donations, we've been told that their greatest need right now is for warm clothing (larger sizes, preferably) such as jackets, hats, gloves, and handwarmers, so we're gathering these items to drop off in the coming days. New is best, but clothing that is clean and in good condition will also be happily accepted.

If you have anything you'd like to donate, send us a message to coordinate and we'll drop off your donation with the rest of the items we've been gathering.

Drywall, siding, and even some finish carpentry are bringing the final vision into focus on our Sixth Street Passive House. Metal siding around most of the single-family residence and DADU keeps the weather out, while cedar accents in the breezeway, soffits, and around the doors add some natural warmth and contrast.

We'll be wrapping up the drywall and siding phase soon, meaning we can move on to the finishes: flooring, paint, countertops, and installing a custom cabinet package from .wood. Stay tuned as we turn the corner into the final phases of this project!

While we're smack in the middle of a few projects and we've spent months staring at works in progress, it's a nice reminder to look back at a finished product and remember what we're working towards.

In collaboration with , we broke ground on our Emerald Lake Passive House back in 2023 with the goal of packing as many high-performance features that we could into a 1,500 sf package. With triple-pane windows and doors, wood fiber exterior insulation, a heat-recovery ventilator, and a heat pump, we think we did just that.

Today we’re celebrating TBB’s 6th birthday! 🎉

In the past year we’ve grown steadily and intentionally, sharpened our focus, and turned towards building our community. Our current and upcoming projects consume most of our daily bandwidth, but we haven’t lost sight of the bigger picture and just how far we’ve come in the past year. To put that into perspective, here’s a look at what we’ve accomplished:

- Started 3 new projects and closed out 5
- Moved our HQ to Bellingham
- Received Phius certification on our Oak Harbor Passive House project
- Joined other local builders to create a carpenter training program at Bellingham Technical College
- Laid the groundwork for 2 new peer groups with local builders and designers
- Joined the Building Forward Collaborative, a regional peer coaching program
- Hosted a booth at the Biawc Biawc Home & Lifestyle Show
- Opened up our Sixth Street Passive House for the public for the Sustainable Connections Green Home Tours
- Invested in our operations by completing our Standard Operating Procedure
- Invested in our workers by starting an employee development program and strengthening our safety practices

6 years in, we’re proud of what we’ve built and are even more excited for what we’re building next. Thank you to our clients, collaborators, employees, friends, and community for being part of the journey. Here’s to year 7 and many more!

We’d like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who came out to visit us on the Sustainable Connections Green Home Tour! We had a great turnout and were thrilled to share our work with the community.

We had many great conversations, some of which led to the idea of starting a sustainable design group focused on the triple bottom line: people, planet, and profit. There are so many great people and resources in this community, and we’d love to find a way to bring those together.
