2024: cleared the Phragmites from the Prouty Beach shore and Beebe Spur Trail boardwalk

2025: cleared Phragmites, Yellow Iris, and Purple Loosestrife from the Prouty Campground and Bluffside Farm shorelines

2026: I'll be covering the entirety of Scott's Cove and Prouty Campground shorelines, treating Phragmites, Yellow Iris, Purple Loosestrife, Honeysuckle, and Buckthorns.

Shout out to Memphremagog Watershed Association for being a terrific project manager, and Vermont Land Trust, the City of Newport, and the Pine Grove Cemetery for being conscientious, responsible landowners.

"I want my basement to never flood again, and for the storm-water to not impact my stream."

"No problem. Perforated conduits against the structure, draining to a stone lined infiltration trench."

"Can the trench also be the base to a stone patio?"

"...If you want one hell of a trench- sure."

This puppy will hold and infiltrate thousands of gallons of water before its forced to flow overland to the stream- and that basement won't flood again unless the stream itself overtakes it.

*Stream Habitat Improvement*

One of my favorite things about the work I do is looking back and seeing wildlife enjoy it. I helped Memphremagog Watershed Association install a series of Strategic Wood Additions and Beaver Dam Analogues last year- and it did not take long to see Brookies using them as intended.

I've teamed up with Sam Carter, the contractor who worked with Fish & Wildlife as they 'wrote the book' on this practice, to offer this service to private landowners.
