How many of you have heard of a personal curriculum?
If you haven’t, it’s simply a commitment to intentionally learning something you want to learn, not because you have to, but because you’re curious about it.
Last month, my personal curriculum focused on coffee. I explored different brewing methods, flavors, and the art behind a good cup of coffee. It’s something I’ll continue learning about.
My next course of study is oil pastels. I’m learning how to paint and create with them, exploring how they blend, layer, mix, and behave on paper. I’m discovering their character, techniques, strengths, and quirks along the way.
These are my first two paintings. They aren’t masterpieces (yet!), but that’s not the point. The point is learning, experimenting, and enjoying the process. The first painting is mangoes (if you couldn’t tell 😆), and the second is based on a photo of strawberries.
I’m absolutely loving the journey so far.
So now I’m curious…
What is something you would love to dedicate time to learning and exploring this summer as part of your own personal curriculum?
