The honey laminated cabinets had outlived their welcome. The layout itself was comfortable for our clients. They wanted better storage, maybe more seating at the island. With smart space planning both were achieved. There was a non load bearing wall batten the sunken family room and the kitchen that visually dictated the flow of what was possible.

Once that wall was removed, enlarging the island was possible, added a pantry closet to the right side of the kitchen for storage of larger pantry items.

A large built in Subzero refrigerator provides easy access to prepping and cooking area.

Without that wall between family room and kitchen the island got bigger and smarter! Storage on 3 sides was possible. Hidden storage under seating area. Storage facing arrive. And ample storage on the long prep side.

The lighting plan here is a show stopper, lighted toe kicks, remember toekicks are functional😉, lighted seating area, undercabinet lighting, island lighting and recessed lighting.... layered lighting is key!

The island is functional but beautiful! The quartz countertops really shine!

The color palette exudes confidence and draws the eye up.

Bright and fresh without appearing sterile is always a good idea!

This island is great space for working, snacking and prepping delicious dinners.

A lot of homes don’t feel “off” because they need more.

They feel off because everything is competing at the same volume.

Too much contrast.
Too many finishes asking for attention at once.

The homes that feel the most elevated are usually the most restrained.

Layered textures.
Balanced contrast.
Thoughtful lighting.
Materials that work together instead of competing against each other.

That balance is what creates the feeling people often describe as: “calm” “timeless” “expensive”

Not because the home is louder.
Because it feels intentional.

The goal was never more.
It was balance.
