It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our original founder, Bobby Ward.

Back in 1979, Bobby, better known to me as Papa, started this business by digging sod out of his own front yard and selling it to people in the community. What started small eventually grew into a business that he and his wife, Barbara, would spend nearly 40 years building together.

Even today, we still have customers come by who remember buying sod from “the Wards” 20 or 30 years ago. Some even share stories about conversations they had with him all that time ago. It’s always special to hear those memories and know that what he started still means something to people today.

Thank you, Papa, for all the years of hard work and dedication you put into building this business. As your great-grandson, I’m proud to carry on what you started, and we’ll continue doing everything we can to honor the legacy you worked so hard to build.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our family and this business throughout the years. 🩶

We recently supplied 6 pallets of Emerald Zoysia for this project, and when the homeowner needed an installation on short notice, our friends at All American Landscape stepped in and did an excellent job.

Hello friends, spring is here! 🌱

Davis Ward Sod is open and now accepting orders for the season. Our Bermuda is ready to go and we’re excited to get rolling again!

Our Zoysias, Centipede, and St. Augustine are still a little early and not ready to be cut yet — should be about a couple weeks out. We like to wait until everything is fully active and in good shape before we cut and deliver, so you’re getting it at its best.

If you’ve got a project coming up over the next few weeks, we’d definitely recommend going ahead and getting on the schedule now. As spring gets going, things tend to pick up quick and spots fill up fast.
