Not necessarily.
A small area of siding damage can sometimes be repaired without replacing an entire wall or the siding on the whole home. The right approach depends on the type of siding, the extent of the damage, and whether a matching replacement product is still available.
A few things we look at when evaluating siding include:
โข Cracks, holes, or impact damage
โข Loose or missing panels
โข Warping or buckling
โข Signs of water getting behind the siding
โข Fading or deterioration from age
โข Whether replacement siding can be reasonably matched to the existing material
Storm damage can also create a tricky situation. Hail may damage only a portion of the siding, but older colors and styles are sometimes discontinued or difficult to match. That can affect what repair options are practical.
On the other hand, fading or minor cosmetic wear does not automatically mean the siding needs to be replaced.
A good inspection should determine what is actually damaged first, then recommend the most practical repair or replacement option.
