Back to the story...The fall was a reminder how precious life is. Chris was in a wheelchair for a decent amount of time before moving to a platform walker. Over the next year and a half, he spent a lot of time resting and enjoying that grandbaby ;) and healing. As he was healing, he needed something to do that was low impact and not stressful on his body. A friend gave him sourdough starter and he began to make bread. He branched out to bagels and discovered he loved making bagels! So this became his outlet and folks started getting free bagels dropped at their doorstep. This kept Chris going through a really tough season. In 2024, he went to work in a position he thought would be easier on his body, but he pushed too hard and ended up needing more surgeries. Most of 2025 was spent with more rest and recovery. In December of 2025, Chris decided to go into business for himself. This would take the pressure off and he can choose not to take the jobs that are too stressful on his body, yet still serve the folks he loves to serve. He did not expect what a wonderful support group he would have! It has been busy with little to no advertising and God has been a part of the entire story. He now works with his wife, Becky, as his bookkeeper/scheduler and is enjoying putting his newfound love of bagels and his experience and love of HVAC into service! All that to say THANK YOU! Thank you for the support while he was injured, and thank you for supporting Ladders to Loaves!
