From moss-covered to thriving. ๐ฑ
Three months ago, this front lawn was a patchwork of moss, bare soil, and years of decline. We stripped it down, regraded the site, improved the seedbed, and installed a premium turf-type tall fescue lawn during the first week of April.
This property presents unique challenges. Mature oak trees create heavy shade, compete aggressively for water and nutrients, and significantly reduce airflow. Those conditions demand the right grass selection, not just any seed. Turf-type tall fescue was chosen specifically because it performs well in these difficult environments while still producing a dense, beautiful lawn.
Although this lawn is only 3 months old, cool-season lawns typically require about 6 months to become fully established. Even after enduring a prolonged stretch of 100ยฐ+ heat index days this summer, the lawn continues to fill in, mature, and strengthen.
While fall is often considered the ideal time to seed, spring was the better choice for this property. Planting in the spring gave the new turf an entire growing season to establish before entering another season beneath the dense canopy of these mature oaks.
We're thrilled with the progress so far, and this lawn will continue to improve as it matures.
