Just over two years ago, we decided to expand our services and began offering drone flights in Central Oregon. The initial goal of this expansion was to offer new and existing clients a way to visualize their residence, business, or urban planning from a unique vantage point; see the development from the top down, envision the beautiful vistas from your future balcony, understand property and sight lines from any camera angle or height.

Today we had the privilege of working with a local, renowned architect on a project with the potential to view both the peaceful Deschutes River and the magnificent Cascade mountain range from a proposed deck. The viewpoints are very location specific, so we spent the late morning flying the drone to pre-determined altitudes on property to confirm deck heights and tree removal options.

The data gathered from this aerial reconnaissance will be invaluable. By accurately positioning the drone at different elevations and orientations corresponding to where the deck would eventually sit, we can effectively preview the unobstructed views of both the majestic mountains and the meandering river. This foresight ensures that the architectural design maximizes the natural beauty of the location, offering future residents an unparalleled connection to the iconic scenery that defines Bend, Oregon. Drone flights served as the perfect tool to bridge the gap between blueprints and breathtaking reality.

3D Modeling + 2D Architectural Visuals:

Years ago, Fresno City College was planning to renovate several of their aging buildings. We worked with the State Center Community College District to visualize the interiors and their different planned uses.

Here we see an exhibit focusing on the cultural history of the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians in the Sierra Nevada foothills north of Fresno, CA.

3D Isometric Miniature Scenes come in a variety of art styles and are used in a myriad of industries.

It's a fascinating way to play with lighting, staging, mood, and materials.

Here's a test scene as I prepare for a call next week with a potential new client.

Another throwback from our time in the Central Valley:

We worked with Arthur Dyson AIA and the team at DSJ Architects (now Dyson Janzen Architects, Inc.) to envision the California Conservation Corps Museum in Fresno, California.

Although not usually the focus of our day-to-day work, product design and presentation can sometimes take center stage and allow us to showcase finely tuned 3D modeling detail and realistic rendering possibilities.

Here we have two concept designs for a customer lounge "internet bar" at a Les Schwab Tire Centers location where along-the-wall seating isn't the preferred setup. These are based on Geiger Furniture's Peer Conference Table design with clean lines and maximum surface use space.

I often revisit past projects and, from a present day perspective, find small elements that can be improved. With constant learning, increased QA levels, and better technology (hardware & software)... we can produce a higher quality product, even if the project is closed and it's only for our portfolio.

Here is cleaner, more detailed render of the remodeled Les Schwab Tire Center in Vancouver, Washington (off of Minnehaha).

This is common practice here at the Lab. We find a project that locally is close to our hearts but we're not directly involved in... and with respect, we attempt to recreate the wonderful work crafted by those that are.

In this case, a local church is working toward a much needed expansion and they've reached out to us for a graphic design project. We spent the day recreating a 3D perspective render that was originally crafted by the talented firm BBT Architects in Bend, OR.

A new site plan for some of the hard working people that brought the existing Central Oregon Villages managed village last year. This site is just north of Bend and includes Food Service, a Medical trailer, a Shower Trailer, and meeting space for a Service Provider.
