🥶 It’s getting colder outside, so don’t forget to winterize your outdoor spigots before freezing temperatures arrive!

Follow these simple steps:

1️⃣ Disconnect all hoses, splitters, timers, and attachments from the outdoor spigot.

2️⃣ Locate the shutoff valve inside your home that supplies water to the outdoor spigot.

3️⃣ Turn the indoor shutoff valve completely off.

4️⃣ Go back outside and open the spigot to drain any water remaining in the line.

5️⃣ If the indoor shutoff valve has a small drain cap or bleeder valve, place a bucket underneath it and carefully open it to release any trapped water.

6️⃣ Leave the outdoor spigot open for the winter, unless your plumbing system requires otherwise.

Even if you have a frost-free spigot, you should still remove the hose. A connected hose can trap water inside and cause the pipe or spigot to freeze and burst.

A few minutes of preparation now could save you from a frozen pipe and an expensive repair later!
