RJ Genetics began on Russell Paulk's front porch, with him and Jason Morris sitting, talking, and thinking about their past, present, and future business ambitions. Paulk became increasingly interested in another business potential as their conversation progressed. They talked about a variety of topics that day, including rental property, landscaping, plumbing, and cattle. When it was time to say
their goodbyes for the day, they decided to band together and buy a bull to sell semen on. There was a sale a few weeks later. Paulk and Jason got together at Jason's office that day to watch the sale. They immediately chose a bull calf right away, which they were extremely interested in, and by the end of the sale, they had purchased three heifers as well. Their business had progressed from selling semen to building a herd of cattle. A few months later, they brought in 20 heifers from Holle Gelbvieh that would eventually be recipient cows for embryos. RJ Genetics’ herd had expanded from three to 23 heifers. Fast forward to present day 2022, RJ Genetics now sells bulls and heifers, as well as embryo services and artificial insemination. So far, it’s been a fun and exciting experience. People in the cattle industry are hardworking, never-give-up types of people. Russell and Jason’s adventures have brought them in contact with people from all over the world. The people you meet are what makes this business so enjoyable. Cattlemen are the ones who make the livestock industry what it is. RJ Genetics is absolutely thrilled to be a part of it.
