My background is in photography.
I started my own photography business when I was 20 years old. Hank and I had just gotten married, we had a new baby girl, and honestly, the odds felt stacked against us. A lot of people around us doubted we would ever make it.
Hank graduated with his construction engineering degree and took a job right out of college. I had a little over a semester left of school when I decided to step away to take care of our baby and help Hank get through school.
My plan was always to open my own photography business. I donāt remember ever really doubting myself in that. And my husband worked incredibly hard to give me the freedom to chase that dream.
So, 20-year-old me just did it.
While raising one baby, then having another by 22 and a third by 26, I built a business from nothing. Eventually, I had a commercial studio space and photographed hundreds of newborn babies over the years.
I felt so incredibly blessed that God had given me the dream of being a mother while also allowing me to do something I genuinely loved.
And now, 20 years later, I get to be a dreamer again.
Only this time, itās even better.
I get to build something with my best friend.
The business looks different. The dream looks different. Our family looks different. But that part of me that wants to create, build, dream big, and chase something beautiful is still the same.
I donāt think Iāll ever stop chasing light.
Maybe thatās why this next chapter feels so familiar. Photography taught me to notice the light, to see beauty in the details, and to create something meaningful from whatās in front of me.
Now, I get to do that in homes.
And I canāt wait to see where this dream takes us next. š¤
