This is one of several reasons that Predator Impact never uses uncontained mouse or rat poison. Simply to much secondary poisoning!

A bobcat eats hundreds of rats and mice a year. It won't bother you—it's shy, wants nothing to do with people, and you'll rarely see one. What it wants is the rodent problem in your yard. That's the whole transaction.

Here's where it gets troubling. In the mountains around Los Angeles, 88% of bobcats tested positive for rat poison. In one study, 31 of 39 d*ad bobcats had rodenticide in their systems. They eat the poisoned rodents, the anticoagulant breaks down their immune system, mange takes hold, and they d*e slowly.

We put poison out to k*ll rats. The poison k*lls the bobcat instead.

If a bobcat shows up in your yard, you don't have a pest problem. You have free, natural pest control working for you. Put the rodenticide away and let it do what it does best.

Mole and Armadillo Invasion!

We are headed for a perfect storm that is going to have a serious impact on your beautiful lawns!

#1- This year's baby moles and armadillos are reaching the age where they are leaving their mother, spreading out and looking for new territories. This can triple or quadruple the population in a very short time.

#2- The dry conditions are pushing the grubs and worms deeper into the soil where moles and armadillos can't reach them.
Only where the lawn is watered and fertilized will there be grubs and worms near the surface. This means that moles, armadillos and even skunks will be visiting your lawn and digging for worms and grubs.

Keep an eye on your yard. Armadillo damage will look like a small rototiller has been there. Moles make characteristic tunnels along walls and sidewalks as well as across the lawn itself.

If you are not sure what you are dealing with, snap a picture and text it to (918) 397-4091 and we'll be glad to look it over at no cost. If you would rather, we would be happy to have a tech stop by to discuss the problem and offer solutions.

Here's to a beautiful lawn!

Ultrasonic Devices for Bats?

We get a lot of customers asking if they can just install an ultrasonic bat repellant to drive the bats out of their attic.

The picture below was taken by Gabe LaPlante in North Carolina. The black box is a fully functional ultrasonic bat repellant that was installed previously by one of his competitors. It was going off as this picture was taken. It doesn't look very effective to me! 😃

Got bats in your attic? Predator Impact can evict them safely and efficiently! We have methods and techniques that really work!

Goodness snakes!

There are 46 species of snakes in Oklahoma. If you lump together the rattlesnakes, there are only three that you have to be concerned about. Rattlesnakes; Copperheads; and Cottonmouths.

While theoretically, Cottonmouths should be occasionally found in Washington County, they are incredibly rare, if they are here at all.

We do have the occasional rattlesnake, but the venomous snake you are most likely to encounter is the Copperhead. Their venom is one of the least toxic and seldom results in death, although it may put you in the hospital for a day or two. Many Copperhead bites (including my two) are "dry bites", or bites without injecting venom. The snake relies on his venom to kill prey, he would rather not waste it on you!

95% of the snake calls we get are for harmless, beneficial snakes that just wound up in the wrong place at the wrong time. On land its usually a Western (or Black) Ratsnake and near water it is usually a Plainbellied Watersnake.

We never recommend picking up a snake you are not positive of the ID, just admire them from a distance, but if you can text a picture, we can help you identify it and help understand if it is a potential problem, or a benefit.

Got a snake somewhere it shouldn't be, or just need to know more? Predator Impact is here to help. Call us today!

POND TURTLES

Turtles are an important part of every pond's ecosystem, and a few turtles are necessary, but when the pond gets out of balance, it is important to relocate a portion of the turtles to a new location to prevent starvation and disease. This also reduces the pressure on the fish population which improves fishing.

Despite the internet misinformation, water turtles do not have a homing instinct and they are quite happy in their new location. All turtles are live trapped and relocated unharmed to an area with lots of food and room.

Got a pond you are refurbishing? Predator Impact can help bring the turtle population back down to a sustainable level. Call us today to discuss options and pricing. There is never a charge for inspections or quotes.

Raccoon Invasion!

Bartlesville is undergoing a raccoon invasion. All of the downtown area is experiencing unprecedented numbers of raccoons.

There are few things cuter than a group of baby raccoons. They are fun to watch in the wild, but can be a menace when the adults take up residence in your attic. They damage wiring and air conditioning ducts. Like cats, they pick one spot as their "litter box" and it can soak through the ceiling to the point it collapses.

Predator Impact specializes in safely and humanely removing raccoons from buildings. No raccoons are harmed and all are relocated to our wildlife preserve where they can live out their lives being raccoons!

Got an unwanted visitor in your attic? Predator Impact can remove them safely and humanely. Call us for a free, no obligation inspection and quote.
