Predator Impact

Had an interesting event this afternoon. It’s the middle of October and had a very small swarm of bees show up on the ground in front of our hives. I dug around a little and found a full developed mated queen. A swarm at this time of year has very little chance of making it through the winter, but I decided to move them into a nuc and see what happens.

Actually, I like cyber trucks, but it is still funny!

SKUNK TRAPPING

Predator Impact normally uses special traps that prevent the skunk from spraying, but occasionally one wanders into one of our wire Comstock traps. This trap was set where armadillos cross under the fence, but this time a skunk found his way into the trap.
The video shows a technique developed (I think!) by our good friend Van Gillock. It allows the skunk to exit the wire trap and go into the spray-proof trap while assuring that my wife won’t lock the door to keep me out of the house because I got sprayed!

Bees under Modular Home

Got a call today. A modular home sales company had a colony of bees that had taken up residence under the floor, between the floor and the insulation. The colony had been there about a year. They had lots of comb, but very little brood or honey. It’s not unusual for there to be minimal brood this time of year, but it should have been packed with honey.

Predator Impact usually traps and rehomes 15-20 armadillos a year. The one we caught this morning makes 70 for the last 30 days! It has been crazy!

I am no expert on beaver marital relations, but I am pretty sure the one in the trap is the male and the other is his mate fussing at him for not being home when he said he would be! 😁

The last month or so has been crazy! The dry weather has made the ground so hard the grubs and worms have gone deep and the armadillos have moved into the neighborhoods where the watered lawns are soft enough to dig in.
We normally catch 15-20 armadillos a year, but the five we caught today brings the total up to 65 for the past month! Crazy times!

Got an armadillo problem? Predator Impact can trap them and relocate them to the river bottom in our wildlife preserve where they can dig to their heart’s content without destroying hundreds of dollars worth of landscaping!
