This is my first quote book with my first Job page one..
My brother and I were homeless, spent our last $35 to our name on those business cards seen in the picture, this notebook (both from staples) and a bag of apples with my last $5 from Wal-Mart.
Once the cards were printed off we dropped them at every bulletin board we could imagine..
Our last drop was Wal-Mart where my brother and I ran into an acquaintance of ours, more so a friend of my brothers..
The friend asked what we were up to , I explained we were trying to start a business he said " well I don't need an entire roof but I could use a repair...my vent leaks once in a while , usually in the winter"
That night I stayed up all night and couldn't sleep, watching YouTube videos on my phone on how to make a sale..I found one titles " 7-steps to making a sale"...
I realized there was a major problem with this roof and the solution to the problem was removing the entire roof....
If they had ice and water shield under their shingles it wouldn't leak, there fore I knew the roof had to be replaced. That was my pitch atleast..
On the way to his house the next morning, we stopped at local hardware stores getting free color charts and literature on the materials we use.
When I showed up, kinda nervous, very hungry, gulf ball in throat and sweating arms full of paperwork and color charts..there Derick was waiting for our arrival in his lawn chair, legs crossed with a big smile, pleasantly suprised by the presentation I was unraveling...
My brother went inside to talk with his wife while I proposed my pitch, which no one was aware of or expecting...
I said 5k we will do a complete replacement ( on a trailer double wide roof - 2015)
He said, " aj, 4k and we have a deal" offering me a hand shake...
I grabbed his hand hakimg it and replied " absolutely " or something along those lines..
He went inside and said "honey rite a check for 2k" she exclaimed "WHAT!?!?!? FOR A REPAIR!???"
He replied, " No, thats half down for a new roof"
She quickly changed to a very happy " oh! Let me go get my check book"
We had no ladders,no tools.
We bought the tools needed with the extra few hundred dollars from the down-payment after material. And we used their ladder.
Started with my brother, both homeless with nearly nothing to our names.
We had one thing the whole time and still do and always will and thats family, faith , hope, love and God's grace and blessings 🙌 🙏
