Late preterm babies — born between 34 and 36 weeks — are often sent home from the hospital quickly because they look healthy.

And they are healthy. But their neurological system, including the suck-swallow-breathe reflex that makes feeding work, is still developing.

This is one of the most common situations I see as an IBCLC — families who weren’t told what to watch for, who pushed through weeks of struggle thinking something was wrong with them, when really their baby just needed a little more time and the right support.

Swipe through for what I wish every late preterm family knew before they left the hospital.

We offer in-person support in Austin and virtual visits everywhere. If your baby is late preterm and feeding is hard — this is exactly what we’re here for. Link in bio.

The release happened. Now what?

Post-procedure expectations are one of the most under-discussed parts of the tongue tie conversation. Families often go in expecting immediate improvement — and when that doesn’t happen, they think something went wrong.

Nothing went wrong. Your baby just had a procedure on a muscle they’ve never been able to use freely. They need time, support, and guidance to learn.

Swipe through for what to actually expect — and when to reach out.

If you’re in the post-procedure window and need support, we’re here. Link in bio.

The best lactation visit you’ll ever have is the one before your baby is born, let’s talk about it.

Lactation care begins before baby comes and it’s best booked in your third trimester.

“I saw Regina George pumping milk in Versace and Bulgari, so I pumped milk in Versace and Bulgari.”

Okay, most of us will never look this glam while pumping, but props to Rachel McAdams and photographer Claire Rothstein for sharing this behind the scenes moment at a photo shoot. Rachel was back at work after having her son about six months prior.

Photographer Claire Rothstein 📸📸 said in her original post, “Breastfeeding is the most normal thing in the world and I can’t for the life of me imagine why or how it is ever frowned upon or scared of. I don’t even think it needs explaining but just wanted to put this out there, as if it even changes one person’s perception of something so natural, so normal, so amazing then that’s great.”

I will never not post this on October 3rd, ! Tell me your favorite quote in the comments.
