From vision to reality at Givens Park Aquatic Facility in East Austin!

A community gathering place for more than 50 years, Givens Park honors Dr. Everett H. Givens — a respected dentist, civic leader, and civil rights advocate who championed Austin’s Black community during segregation.

As part of the pool’s revitalization, our scope included the new shade structures designed to bring comfort, function, and a strong visual element to the aquatic facility. Seeing the transformation from the initial design concept to fabrication, installation, and the finished structures is always one of the most rewarding parts of a project.

For more than 50 years, Givens District Park has been an important gathering place for East Austin. Its renovation was about more than updating a park...it was about honoring that legacy while creating a welcoming, vibrant space for the next generation.☀️🌳

A year later, these structures continue to give families, neighbors, and visitors comfortable places to gather, cool off, and enjoy the outdoors.
That’s what makes community projects like Givens so meaningful to us. The work doesn’t end when construction is complete.

These structures become part of the park, part of the neighborhood, and part of the memories that will be made here for decades to come.

When the Texas heat is at its peak, shade isn't a luxury...it's essential!

This summer, our Single Post Pyramid Cantilevers at Shipe Pool have made a noticeable difference, providing reliable shade that keeps guests cooler and more comfortable without taking away from the open feel of the pool deck. Sometimes the simplest solutions make the biggest difference!

If you're not familiar with this Austin neighborhood gem, Shipe Pool has been serving the Hyde Park community for decades and remains one of the city's beloved free public pools!

1956 vs 2026...Celebrating 70 years of an Austin landmark!🌊☀️

We're proud to have played a part in the next chapter of the Beverly S. Sheffield Northwest Pool by installing the new shade structures as part of the facility's renovation.

Originally opened in 1956 as Austin's first Olympic-sized municipal pool, this iconic community space has welcomed generations of swimmers, families, and athletes. As the pool celebrates its 70th anniversary, it's rewarding to know our work helps make this historic destination more comfortable, accessible, and enjoyable for today's visitors and for generations to come.

Congratulations to the City of Austin Government Parks and Recreation team and everyone involved in preserving the legacy of this remarkable facility while investing in its future!

Exciting things are happening in Beevileville Independent School District & by providing the shade structures that will help create comfortable outdoor spaces for students and staff!

We wrapped up our installation last week, and can't wait to share photos of the finished shade structures soon. Stay tuned for a behind-the-scenes look at how this exciting project is coming together!

Benavides Park is now home to the new All Wheels Park, which officially opened this April, adding another exciting recreation space for the San Antonio community.

Capital Shade is proud to have provided shade structures throughout the park, covering playgrounds, swings, fitness equipment, and gathering spaces to create cooler, more comfortable places for families to enjoy year-round!

Paddle up!🏓 It was so great to see the brand-new Pickleball Courts at the Adult Recreation Complex in Old Settlers Park in ACTION! We even got to speak with a few players who expressed so much excitement & gratitude around our shade structures.

We're thrilled to see this space come to life and give the community a place to play year-round. Keeping players cool & protected from the Texas sun!☀

We're proud to continue our partnership with the by helping create comfortable outdoor spaces for the communities they serve!

Recently, our team completed two exciting installations:
☀️ A new 6-Post Super Span over the pickleball courts at the Hutto Family YMCA, providing players with relief from the Texas sun!
☀️ And a new 4-Point Shade Sail over the seating area at the Twin Lakes Family YMCA's new adventure ropes course, helping keep kids, families, and spectators comfortable while they wait for their turn!

Whether it's supporting active recreation, youth programs, or community gathering spaces, we're honored to play a small role in projects that encourage people to get outside, stay active, and connect with one another!

Thank you to the Greater Austin YMCA for trusting us to be part of these outstanding facilities. We look forward to many more projects together!
