Does your house panel look like this?
A Zinsco electrical panel should not automatically be treated as an immediate emergency.
But treated as a serious electrical safety concern that deserves attention.
These panels were commonly installed in homes around the 1960s and 1970s, and independent field reports and case studies shown problems with poor breaker to bus connections, overheating, arcing, and breakers that may fail to trip properly under overload conditions.
In Austin, many homes from this same era may also have, limited grounding, or aluminum branch-circuit wiring, which can create additional concerns at receptacles, switches, terminations.
This does not mean every home with a Zinsco panel or aluminum wiring is unsafe by default, but it does mean the system carries known risk factors that should be inspected, and addressed before they become a larger problem.
