In just 38 days, the team at Paul Davis of North Florida helped a local school recover from a devastating fire and smoke damage event, returning classrooms to teachers and students so they could resume learning.

While the fire was contained to a single classroom, smoke impacted more than 25,000 square feet of the facility. The project included removing and evaluating 680 boxes of contents, cleaning and deodorizing salvageable items, and restoring more than 13,000 square feet of damaged space.

From emergency response and contents restoration to reconstruction and final cleaning, the team worked with urgency and determination to meet a critical deadline.

We're proud of the dedication, teamwork, and commitment shown by the Paul Davis of North Florida team and their trade partners to help this school community start the academic year as planned.

With the Austin Flood Watch in place, here’s a few measures you can take to protect your property.

10/01/2026

Flooding can happen quickly, but being prepared can help reduce damage and disruption.

For homeowners, preparation starts with understanding your flood risk, creating an emergency plan, assembling a disaster supply kit, and protecting your property by elevating appliances and electrical systems where possible. It's also important to stay informed through local weather alerts, especially during periods of heavy rainfall.

For businesses, preparation goes beyond the building itself. Conduct a risk assessment to identify vulnerable areas, develop a business continuity plan that includes communication and data protection procedures, safeguard critical infrastructure such as HVAC systems, electrical panels, and servers, and ensure employees understand evacuation routes and safety protocols. Reviewing your insurance coverage can also help you understand what protection is available before disaster strikes.

During National Preparedness Month, taking proactive steps today can make all the difference when floodwaters threaten your home or business.

Austin currently has a flood warning in place. Keep an eye of the weather alerts and stay safe, especially if you live in a low lying area.

Disasters can happen when you least expect them. Taking time now to build a disaster supply kit can help your family stay safe and prepared when an emergency occurs.

Be sure to include essentials like water, non-perishable food, flashlights, batteries, first aid supplies, medications, and copies of important documents.

Thank you to the American Red Cross for the resources you provide to help families prepare before disaster strikes.
