Today is 811 day and we want to acknowledge the importance of safe digging and the work it takes across our industry to protect the people, utilities and communities around every project.

That same spirit of collaboration is at the heart of HDDA.

HDDA Vice President Jim Watland shares a look ahead at the 2027 HDDA Technology & Equipment Conference, coming May 3–6 just outside Austin, Texas.

From damage prevention and jobsite safety to new technology, equipment and best practices, events like this give contractors, manufacturers and industry partners an opportunity to learn from one another and move HDD forward.

Organizations like HDDA and 811 play different but connected roles in that mission. Working together, sharing knowledge and keeping safe digging at the center of the conversation makes our entire industry stronger.

This is exciting! I’m really looking forward to what’s ahead for HDDA. The momentum we’re building is incredible, and having these two events coming up makes it even more exciting. I think both events are going to be a great opportunity to showcase HDDA, connect with the right people, and continue building on everything we’ve been working toward.

There’s a lot of potential here, and I’m excited to see where we can take it!
