Outdoor Room Relaxation.
When the sun drops, the timber takes over.
This rear elevation is all about structure meeting atmosphere. The gabled timber frame projects outward to create a covered outdoor room, with exposed rafters and a ridge beam that carry the load while framing the stone chimney as a vertical anchor. The geometry is simple and strong, posts, tie beam, and braces working together, but at night, the lighting turns that structure into sculpture.
Warm uplighting washes the tongue-and-groove ceiling, highlighting the grain and depth of the wood. The stone fireplace rises through the center, tying interior and exterior spaces together, while the glazing behind it glows from within. Even the pool lighting is intentional, a cool counterpoint to the warmth of the timber, creating contrast and reflection across the water’s surface.
It’s not just a backyard. It’s a fully framed extension of the home, engineered for performance, detailed for longevity, and designed to feel just as compelling at 9 p.m. as it does at noon.
