As fall weather moves through Georgia, it’s a great time to take a closer look at the trees surrounding your home.

🍂 Sudden leaning: A new or increasing lean may indicate a problem with the tree’s stability.

🌳 Lifted soil or exposed roots: Movement around the base can be a warning sign of root failure.

🪵 Cracks or splitting: New cracks in the trunk or major limbs should never be ignored.

🏡 Proximity to your home: Trees showing signs of instability near houses, driveways, or outdoor living spaces deserve prompt professional attention.

⚠️ TREE SAFETY THURSDAY — DEAD DOESN’T MEAN DOWN.

A dead limb can stay attached to a tree for quite a while—but that doesn’t mean it’s safe.

Wind, rain, or simply time can be enough for a weakened limb to finally let go. And when that branch is hanging over your home, driveway, vehicles, or the places your family spends time, it deserves attention.

🐾 Qtip’s Thursday assignment: Take a walk around your property and LOOK UP.

Pay particular attention to branches that are bare while the rest of the tree still has foliage, limbs that are broken or hanging, and wood that appears brittle or has lost significant bark.

And please—inspect from the ground. If something looks questionable, leave the climbing to the professionals. 🌳💪🏻

🍂🐾 QTIP’S TIP TUESDAY — PUT THOSE FALL LEAVES TO WORK!

Before you bag every leaf in the yard, Qtip has a message from the landscaping department:

Your trees dropped them for a reason. 🌳🍁

Healthy fallen leaves can be mulch-mowed into the lawn or shredded and used in a light layer around trees and garden beds. As they break down, they return organic matter to the soil while helping it retain moisture.

In other words…

🍂 Rake a little less.
🌱 Recycle a little more.
🌳 Give something back to the soil.

But Qtip has one VERY important rule: don’t pile leaves or mulch against the tree trunk. Keep the root flare and bark clear rather than creating that dreaded “mulch volcano.” 🌋😹

And remember—this tip applies to healthy leaves. If leaves show signs of significant disease or infestation, removal may be the better choice rather than reusing them around the property.

Tuesday assignment from Qtip: Mulch-mow a few leaves and consider it permission to rake less. 😂🐾🍁
