A general contractor license is easy to misunderstand. Most people think it is a piece of paper you need to build a house. In Georgia it is required for any residential construction over $2,500, and that includes your backyard.

More than that, it means the contractor has been tested on the building codes, has proven experience, carries insurance, and answers to a licensing board. On a high-end outdoor living project with a pool, retaining walls, a pavilion, an outdoor kitchen, and the permits that go with all of it, that matters.

There is one detail that matters most. A residential contractor cannot personally do electrical, plumbing, or gas work. Those have to be licensed trades. A GC is the one who brings them in, coordinates them, and takes responsibility for the whole project. That is the job.

October is spec season. If you are an architect, landscape architect, or builder with a spring 2027 install on the books, the stone selection needs to happen this month.

Quarry-direct natural stone has real lead times. Work backward from an April install: material clears freight in March, ships in February, gets cut and finished in January, the order is placed in December, sizes and finishes are confirmed in November. That leaves October for selection and specification.

Miss October and you are looking at a summer install.

Send us the drawings. We build a full 3D model of every piece, confirm finish, size, and thickness to your detail, send shop drawings for your approval, and deliver material labeled and sequenced for install. Beige and grey. Cut to size.

Real stone or the cheap stuff. From the street on a good day they can look the same. Up close, and five years in, they are not.

Full-bed veneer is three to five inches of real dimensional stone with depth at every corner and weight in every shadow line. Thin veneer is a one-inch product glued to the wall. On a custom home it is the wrong material.

We supply architectural grade stone cladding cut to your exact spec, custom finish, custom size, custom thickness. Rock-face, split-face, honed, bush-hammered, ashlar. Fabricated to your elevation drawings and 3D modeled before a single piece is cut.

If you have been thinking about your backyard for a while and don’t know where to start, that is exactly where we come in.

Most people have a vision. They just don’t have a process. They don’t know what comes first, who to call, what permits they need, or how to make sure the design they love actually works on their specific site.

The Daydream Build Path is how we walk clients through every phase, from the first conversation about how you want to use the space, through design and 3D modeling, permitting, material selections, and construction management. Most people pick stone the same way they pick tile. They look at it, like it, ask the price per square foot, and move on.

That works fine until it doesn’t.

Stone is not all the same material. A soft limestone with high absorption looks identical to an architectural grade stone on day one. By year three you know the difference. In warm climates like ours, porous stone absorbs moisture and gives mold and algae a place to live. It stains. It spalls. Pool coping lifts. Wall cladding degrades. The cheap square foot price does not account for any of that.

We carry European limestone from the Istrian Peninsula. Less than 0.45% absorption. Density comparable to granite. Architectural grade. Cut to your exact spec and 3D modeled before it ships.

It costs more than the stuff sitting in a yard somewhere. It also performs in year five the same way it did on day one.

The details of the stone matter. Most suppliers won’t tell you that because they’re selling what they have. We tell you because it’s the only material we carry and we stand behind it.
