Customers have been calling in lately due to their motion detectors causing false alarms. This can be very annoying and we understand!!

So, we have compiled a list of normal everyday items that are responsible for this chaos!

* Flying or crawling insects; spiders like to make homes in corners and anchor their webs to the sensors
* Pets moving about in the home
* Curtains or plants blown by air conditioning or heaters
* Low batteries
* Ceiling fans

With the days getting shorter, darkness starts a little earlier. We should all be aware of this, as less light means it becomes easier for burglars to potentially break into your home. Make sure that your home as ample lighting, and have your lights programmed to turn on earlier than they would during the summer months. As opposed to your outdoor lights on at 9 like they would be in the summer, make sure they come on at 5.

The primary way to prevent a home invasion is simply to never, ever open your door unless you either are certain you know who's on the other side or can verify that they have a legitimate reason for being there (dressing up as a repair person or even police is one trick criminals use).

In the event that the intruder beaks in while you're home, you should have a safe room in your house to which you can retreat. Such a room should be equipped with a strong door, deadbolt lock, phone (preferably cell phone), and a can of pepper spray or fire extinguisher.
