We are so grateful to be part of the team that’s recreating this beloved Historical Concepts | Architecture & Planning family compound! It was a treat to return last week with Eloise Pickard of Sandy Springs Gallery to see the progress and determine placement of light fixtures in the lake house.

Update: see a slightly revised version in the comments that we might like more ;-)

It's REALLY happening!! We went back to the drawing board to design an even smaller Tideland Haven. Jim Strickland and Suzanne Stern have teamed up to develop a new version that will simplify construction, incorporate one of the most popular modifications (relocated kitchen), and keep some of the favorite features that make the Tideland Haven so beloved. What do you think?

I should have mentioned that we've worked hard to make the plan one that will make it easy to age in place.

This shaded screened porch on our Southern Living house plan, ‘Island Cottage’, looks like the perfect place to take a break from summer heat. This is an old photo, but we can’t think of anything that needs to be changed. And how about those window boxes?!

This week, the GOAT - Eloise Pickard of Sandy Springs Gallery - visited the project under construction in South Georgia. She worked with the builder, electrician, and interior designer to determine placements for light fixtures that she’ll create. Eloise’s work has been featured in countless magazines, many of our favorite homes, guest houses, carriage houses, and garages. We can’t wait to see what she creates for this special project!

The screened porch of this version of ‘286 Spring Street’ was built as a sunroom and we love it!

It’s always exciting when we get to see projects under construction. If this looks familiar, you might recognize it as the recreation of an iconic compound of buildings that were featured in Southern Living and Historical Concepts’ book ‘Coming Home’. The plans for boat house, bunkies, and cane mill are available for you to build your own version of paradise!

Better Homes & Gardens featured a virtual version of ‘244 Tall Oak Road’ as a showhouse in the May 2024 issue on newsstands and online. Leslie Bennett at Pine House Edible Gardens and Lonna Lopez at Halo Garden Design envisioned a garden full of fruit & nut trees, berry bushes, and even edible flowers. It feels like a colorful spring inspiration!
