A “small revision” can mean rechecking appliance specs, cabinet construction, trim details, fillers, clearances, countertop conditions, installation sequencing, and making sure the room still actually functions.

Sometimes moving one cabinet 3 inches affects 20 other decisions.

Framing is underway and it’s finally starting to feel real

The giant playroom window is going in, my son’s tiny 8’ room is somehow becoming the cutest space in the house, and the kids’ bathroom turned out bigger than I imagined.

Now I need your help… insulation. Do I stay budget friendly or upgrade to wool for sound + fire resistance?

If you’ve done either, tell me what you’d choose (or regret 👀).

This one might be controversial.

I don’t think luxury vinyl flooring is automatically bad. It has a place. Budget matters. Durability matters.

But when you place a printed wood look surface directly next to a real wood cabinet, you start comparing them whether you mean to or not.

Real wood has depth, movement, texture, and variation. The imitation starts to feel more obvious because it’s sitting next to the real thing.

My personal preference? If we’re investing in beautiful oak or walnut cabinetry, I’d rather pair it with stone, tile, concrete, or another material that isn’t trying to compete.
