The Apollo 7 Saturn IB launch vehicle photographed, on Oct. 11, 1968, more than 10,700 meters (35,000 ft) over the Atlantic Ocean from a Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker using the Airborne Lightweight Optical Tracking System (A-LOTS). The A-LOTS is an airborne precision photographic system that can provide information on launch vehicles during the early launch stage, separation and reentry phases of the flight.
