Wednesday?
Still mad about the gage. 🤷‍♀️ not budging. Until we can remember our boundaries, we start back at zero. Now I feel like im giving relationship advice LOL were waiting on the last of the four runner ducklings to be old enough to move into the layer flock with the other half dozen runner ducks we have. Then I think I can take the fence down and let this flock go back to at will foraging. Soon enough. Its tough because the geese adept the problem, its the young ducks lol.

Anyone else have some rougue young ducklings?

REST IN PARADISE BABY

Yesterday was s**t....

Point blank, period. It was s**t.

One of the goslings was lost. The other day I said to myself "shes not growing well, she looks a bit straggly". They've been seperated from the main goose flock for bedtime, and to eat. Their only company being two young ducklings and each other. Flock raiser. With brewers yeast. Grazing. Greens. Ect. I whole heartedly feel there was something I couldnt see with her. So now in a world of panic, ive dragged her sibling back inside to keep a closer eye on her. The problem being shes even smaller than her sibling, however she looks better than our girl that passed. So at this point, im on edge. These babies were the first ive ever delt with, from this specific breeder, but after this, im not sure ill be hatching eggs from other breeders anymore.

To add to things...
One of annabelle babies passed away. I feel that could be from Annabelle being over protective.

I know when you have livestock, you have deadstock. But I don't see our birds as just "livestock" never have. Theyre more than just another body on the farm.

Im not sure how much more I can take.

2026 has officially taken the most from me and the farm.

*LOCATED in Ashaway Rhode Island, minutes from North Stonington Connecticut state line

*5 Hens (pullets); - 5 months

They are going on 5 months old and will be laying literally anytime now. They are fibro eggers grey/blue in color. All a little different than each other. I expect they'll lay either pink, blue, green or a small chance of chocolate eggs depending on what hen was their mother.

*HEN*

(1) Cream Legbar - just over a year old.

They are not free and not *on sale* there is a reasonable cost for fresh pullets, and appropriate pricing by age for the laying hens.

MUST go as two or more. No solo hens sorry.

Rooster is pending, and amerucana and Speckled Sussex went home. FCFS basis.

Please no window shoppers. No one that's going to set up to come then just ghost us. It makes the birds loose out on a chance to find an incredible home, while you can't commit.

Our beautiful mauve (split to mottled) girl will be paired with Marshy (or blue mottled rooster) and our Blue (blue silkie hen) will be going into a pen together this weekend.

So they will be silkie pen #3
With pen #1 being our oreo silkie pair (black mottled silkie pair, 3 black pullets, and 1 random blue that could be a rooster.

Pen #2 is our odds and ends. My good witch homestead roo (black mottled) will watch over the "normal" silkies until my mottled pullet is big enough.

Theres going to be all sorts of new things to watch for
