Some clients become family. 💙 We've had the honor of completing six different projects with the Hecker family over the years, starting with their kitchen remodel back in 2017 — swipe to see some of the work we've done! This year we were honored to support their son Nate in the Pan-Mass Challenge: he rode both days and finished the full 2-day ride at just 17, one of only thirteen riders his age. Since then, Nate's turned 18, earned his driver's license, and is now a senior at Minuteman High School, still welding away. Way to go, Nate! 🚴

A built-in beverage station keeps guests out of the cook’s way and puts everything they need within reach. This one includes:

✨ Decorative mesh-front uppers to show off the glassware
✨ Under-cabinet lighting for a warm glow
✨ A built-in beverage fridge, so no more “can you grab me a drink?”
✨ Drawers and tall cabinets that hide everything else

Love to entertain? A dedicated drink station might be the best upgrade you never knew you needed. 👉 Link in bio

Custom Contracting removed the existing second floor and rebuilt it to create a full two-story Colonial, adding valuable square footage and dramatically increasing the usable living space. The new second floor includes three bedrooms, a bathroom and a walk-in closet, with a walk-up attic above.
The transformation is dramatic, but our favorite part may be what doesn’t stand out: the addition looks like it has always belonged.

More than an addition, this is a home within a home.
This custom-built ADU gives the homeowners a complete, independent living space with its own kitchen, living area, bathroom and laundry, all thoughtfully integrated into the existing home.
Whether designed for aging parents, adult children, extended family or changing needs down the road, an ADU can add flexibility without sacrificing comfort or privacy.

Fall brings a lot through the door: backpacks, jackets, sports gear, muddy shoes and everything in between.
A well-designed mudroom gives it all a place to land, while keeping the rest of your home from becoming the drop zone.
Built-in cubbies, plenty of hooks, bench seating and durable flooring can turn an everyday entrance into one of the hardest-working spaces in your home.
Thinking about adding or reworking a mudroom? Custom Contracting can help you make the most of the space you have.

A bathroom doesn’t need a huge footprint to do a lot.

This renovation makes smart use of every inch, combining a beautiful, functional full bathroom with stacked laundry just steps away. A rich green vanity, warm brass finishes and a glass-enclosed shower give the space plenty of personality without overwhelming it.
It’s a great example of what thoughtful remodeling can do: make a smaller space work harder, while making it feel better at the same time.

No room for a full mudroom? You may not need one.
A thoughtfully designed drop zone can turn an underused entry, hallway or corner into hardworking storage for the things that tend to migrate through the rest of the house.
Built-in seating, drawers, hooks and vertical storage make the most of a small footprint, giving coats, shoes, backpacks and bags a place to land.
At Custom Contracting, we look for opportunities to make the space you already have work harder for the way you live.

One story became two, and the whole house changed with it. A full-width rear dormer and two front gables created a new second floor, while the first floor was reworked for the way this family lives now. This tile niche is one small example of the details that make a large transformation feel personal.

BEFORE: The original living room had a flat ceiling that concealed the roof structure above.

DURING: Opening the ceiling revealed the structure and the dramatic volume the finished room could gain.

AFTER: Raise the roof. Change the room. Removing the flat ceiling and finishing the vaulted structure brought light, height and a completely different feeling to this living space.
