Today I did a new install inventory. I wanted to see how many plants I’ve installed since starting my new food forest in February.
Some things are better left unknown
We sold our house with a 7 year old food forest and moved here. I had spent 7 years making soil and creating a self contained food forest. Minimal pests, never used synthetic fertilizer or pesticides. Had no major pests. Over 20 loads from chip drop made amazing healthy soil.
The new house has more room for our 2 and 4 year old. It’s an upgrade but leaving the old house and forest was a heart break.
So I went hard at rebuilding. Actually buying soil and amendments by the bag to get a head start.
Today I counted the pots from plants I purchased or moved from the old property. I saved every empty pot for reuse.
I counted 578 pots.
That’s installing 3.2 plants a day since February.
Plants bought locally from from Green Dreams, Lukas Nurseries, Hoa Nursery, Julie’s Tropicals, South Seminole Nursery, green isle gardens, Eden of wings, orchids in bloom, Krull Smith, apenberrys, Reid Farm and more. Plants from South Florida from Tree Amigos, Echo, Pine Island, Excalibur, Florida Nursery Mart and homestead road side sellers.
Mail order plants from sow tropicals, Top Tropicals, logees, Fam Plants, Forever Tropicals, Fast growing Trees, Ty Ty nursery, Rare Plant Fairy, classic Caladiums, Etsy (Wonka Plants etc),
Blue Buddha Farm holland bulb company and more.
Now the rainy season is finally here and all I have to do is keep it all alive through Winter 🙂
This list is a diary so I can see next year just how crazy I was and why we are broke 😜
