This is the raw and honest nitty gritty of my summer and building a business as a kitchen garden coach….Sometimes life gets in the way of running a business and building a dream… 💚 🌱🌸 I love what I do when I’m in the groove of staying organized and motivated and committed to the daily grind of running a business, including marketing, keeping up with clients, finding new business, and doing future planning. There’s been a lot of good, and I’ve done some fun garden things to help people grow their own food and take care of their gardens. Plus, teaching at my gardening lecture and workshops that I held this spring at multiple locations in the southern Winnipesaukee area.
Juggling multiple priorities, including being a mom of two busy teens, wanting to work in my own garden, wrangling the dog, doing enough food prep to keep healthy food in our fridge and meals (even though younger teenager always says there’s no food in the house.😉 Time management, staying focused, and balancing priorities have been challenging at times.
At the same time, I’d say that I have a low level depression/anxiety thing going on now because of all the heaviness in the world and the multitude of injustices and negative life-changing policies coming out of this administration over the last 2 1/2 years. I’ve always dealt with anxiety throughout my life because I was born with an overactive mind and have felt things deeply… including the heavy things. I’M TIRED 😴
One of the big things that really makes me mad is the instability of the food supply. With all of the cutting of staff in important departments that are meant to keep us healthy - USDA, quality control, CDC, sharing of pertinent information in regards to foodborne illnesses, and recalls and such. The loss of people that work for farmers that grow our food, as well as the lack of support from the government FOR our farmers. Then there’s the allowance of certain forever pesticides on produce that we all eat.😞
The best thing I can do is be of service and help people with learning how to grow food, even if it’s just a few things that can replace what’s not available or not desirable ($$ or unsafe) at the grocery store. I can’t help everyone, and I can’t solve all the problems, but I need to do my part with what I can offer.💚🍅🥒🥬🌶️🥦❤️
I have a few places to connect with to get some workshops and classes on the calendar. That is my goal for this week as a few places have already inquired. I know I’m going to be doing a Microgreens workshop at one or two places, and I am doing a presentation on September 14 at the Opechee Garden club meeting in Gilford.
I’ll be putting more post out over the next few days as I get my plans underway for fall.💚
