Most people have a piece of furniture or two which has been passed down by a previous generation, right? Unfortunately, over the past few decades, cheap, mass-produced furniture has taken over the market and it tends to fall apart. I want to change that and as a full-time, second generation carpenter/welder, this business has been my attempt to do so. Everything I build is handmade, by me whether that means from wood, steel, new materials, or reclaim. My furniture has been shipped all over the country and I now have pieces in all fifty states and all continents but Africa and Antarctica - in both business and residential settings.

When I was a kid, a parent came to our class and read us a story about the Baba Yaga. I remember how I thought her house looked in my own mind and then locked it away for most of my life.

Then about two years ago, the thought of a house perched on chicken legs entered my mind out of the blue and I couldn’t remember why. So I looked it up and everything that had been locked away for probably thirty years came flooding right back.

I decided to make a lamp based on what I thought her house would look like. I’m limiting it to thirty pieces because I know this is probably a VERY niche thing to offer. But I wanted to do it anyway becuase that’s how the creative brain works. As of this moment, they’re on the front page of jdrewsilvers.com 😉 I’ll also number each one on the back as a limited release.
