This elephant garlic made a beautiful floral display for one LV gardener! Elephant garlic, along with a few other varieties, results in this purple color, whereas most garlic varieties have white flowers.

“Typically we pick our garlic scapes so the bulbs will grow bigger. But if you have so many plants that you just can’t get to them all, or if you simply choose to let them bloom, they are beautiful flowers and can make a beautiful bouquet.”

Hey ! Could you or someone you know benefit from garden coaching or a new garden consultation? 🌻

So many LV residents that I talk to want the benefits of having a garden, but don’t know where to start, or don’t want gardening to become their whole personality.

In the age of DIY, it’s easy to look things up, but most people don't have time to become an expert in gardening just to grow some veggies or flowers—and you shouldnt have to.

What’s even tougher for beginner gardeners is that most advice online is not specific to our region, so it’s hard to know what to believe.

Take a look at my services below and feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Hey 🌧️🌿 All this rain and humidity is great for keeping the garden watered, but these warm, wet conditions are exactly what many fungal diseases love.

This week, take 5 minutes to walk through your garden and look for early signs of problems before they spread.
Here's what I'm checking in my own garden:

🍅 Tomatoes
• Remove any lower leaves touching the soil.
• Make sure cages or stakes are keeping plants open for good
airflow.

🥒 Cucumbers, zucchini & squash
• Look for white, powdery spots that could be the beginning of
powdery mildew.

🌸 Flowers like bee balm, phlox, and roses
• Check for leaf spots, rust, or powdery mildew.

A few easy ways to stay ahead of disease:
✅ Water at the base of plants whenever possible.
✅ If you need to prune, remove crowded growth to improve airflow.
✅ Pull weeds that are trapping moisture around your plants.
✅ Remove badly infected leaves instead of leaving them on the plant.

The goal is to catch small problems before they become big ones!

Have you noticed any powdery mildew, rust, or leaf spots yet? Let me know what you're seeing in your garden! 🌱

Hey, ! Bummed about this rainy Memorial Day weekend? 🌧️

While it’s certainly not ideal for a cookout, it’s actually great weather for planting🌱. Instead of waiting for the “perfect” sunny gardening day, grab a raincoat and use this weather to your advantage.

This kind of steady rain helps:

✔ newly planted roots settle in
✔ reduce transplant shock
✔ keep soil consistently moist
✔ lower watering stress after planting

And you won’t be sweating in the heat!

Not every garden day has to be sunny to be productive. Get out there and make the most of it 💪
