This is a great example of my English Chimney Crown System. 3" overhang. With a concave groove underneath the outside edge. This causes a break in the surface tension of water running off the crown, the result is water falls straight to the ground. Never running down the face of the chimney. Thereby stopping water deterioration.
In this area, water runs down the sides of chimneys in the wintertime, runs into any crack, fissure or any point water can get into the masonry. It then freezes at nite and expands. This causes the masonry to eventually start breaking apart. End result = large repair bills.
These crowns completely eliminate the problems from this. They come with a 10-year warranty on the crown. Also the crowns are set 2" below the top of the chimney. Doing this creates amazing structual support for the whole chimney structure.
Its comparable to wrapping a concrete and steel blanket around you chimney that will stand the effetcts of elements and time.

This is how I form the crowns to be poured. This is to be a solid crown. With no flue exiting.
