This is one of the biggest container watering mistakes in summer 🪴 What helps me:
💧 Water slowly at the soil line, not just over the leaves
🪴 Keep going until water drains from the bottom
🌿 If the mix is very dry, water once, wait a few minutes, then water again
☀️ Check pots more often during hot afternoons
🌸 Mulch the top lightly to slow drying
A pot can look wet on top, but the middle of the root ball can still be dry if the water runs through too fast. A slow soak works so much better than one quick pour.

Zucchini plants can look dramatic, but not every problem means disaster 🥒A few common signs:
🌼 Male flowers often show up first, so don’t panic right away
🍃 White powder on leaves is usually powdery mildew
💧 Rotten tips can happen when watering is uneven
🐛 Sudden wilt may mean squash vine borer
🌸 Tiny fruit shriveling is often poor pollination
✋ Hand pollinating can help when bees aren’t visiting much
The sooner you spot the pattern, the easier it is to fix before the plant gives up. I always try to figure out what the plant is showing before I start changing everything.

A garden doesn’t stop working when the sun goes down 🌙 A few night garden tips I love:

🤍 White and pale flowers are easier for night pollinators to find

🌸 Evening-scented flowers can bring in moths after dark

🌿 Plant a few in clusters so they’re easier to notice

💡 Turn off bright porch lights when you can, especially near blooming plants

🦋 Night pollinators are a big reason some flowers keep producing so well

🥬 Greens like kale, chard, arugula, and mustard greens can fill empty spaces
🌱 Beans and cucumbers can still grow fast in warm soil
🥕 Carrots and beets need steady moisture while sprouting
🌿 Basil loves the heat if it gets enough water
🌼 Zinnias, marigolds, and black-eyed Susans bring quick color
💧 July planting needs extra attention because heat dries soil fast

That “giant mosquito” might not be a mosquito at all 🌿 A few things I’ve learned:
🦟 Crane flies look scary, but the adults don’t bite people
🌸 Many adults are harmless and short-lived
💧 They’re often seen near damp soil, lawns, or gardens
👀 The long legs are usually the easiest clue
🚫 I don’t swat first unless I know what I’m looking at
🌱 Some larvae can bother lawns, but the adult flying around isn’t after you
This is one of those bugs that looks worse than it really is.
