Keep the Rio Grand Preventing stormwater pollution & protecting the quality of the Rio Grande in central New Mexico. Stormwater is a leading source of pollution in the Rio Grande.

Members: AMAFCA, Bernalillo County, City of Albuquerque, Ciudad SWD, Corrales, Los Ranchos, NMDOT, Town of Bernalillo, City of Rio Rancho, ESCAFCA, SSCAFCA And the pollution is largely human-caused! The Stormwater Team was formed in 2004 to educate individuals and businesses on how to reduce stormwater pollution by keeping trash and other pollution out of our stormwater system.

Fall weather in New Mexico is unmatched.

If you’re enjoying the season by hitting the trails on foot or on a bike, stay on the designated trails to keep our environment safe. When people wander off the trails, vegetation damage can contribute to unnecessary erosion and more intense runoff that can pollute our arroyos and river.

As the trees begin to change, remember our storm drains are not a trash can for fallen leaves!

When leaves enter the storm drain, they decompose in the Rio Grande, releasing chemicals that deplete oxygen in the water and harm native fish and wildlife. And when they don't make it to the river, they clog these drains and put our streets at risk of flooding.

Instead of blowing leaves into nearby drains, use them for mulch or compost, or just bag them and toss them in the trash!
