I ran into this crispy service feeder in Addison a few days ago on a service call.

It's from a conductor that wasn't torqued down properly, it was slightly loose so it started arcing & overheating. [as seen in the photo]

If you haven't tested the screws inside your electrical service panel in decades, just like this one, you should call me for a service call.

A service call charge costs a lot less than replacing your entire panel when it melts. Preventive maintenance always costs less money.

Give me a call to investigate your electrical service. I was actually at the clients house for another reason when this melted neutral conductor was uncovered. It's really bad for just about everything plugged in when the neutral melts & breaks contact.

Happy Labor Day! Today's holiday isn't because you currently have, or had a job before retirement; it's about all those that sacrificed & risked their lives [or economic ruin], and all the ones that died fighting for the workers/labor rights that we have today. They fought for organizing & they risked their lives to form the "labor movement", to form worker's unions to fight the wealthy corporations. To PROTECT the American workers.

They risked everything in their lives sometimes, including their lives for all the things listed in this photo. They did it for themselves, they did it for you, they did it for a better America.

Trying to disconnect the illegal electrical wiring to prevent a future fire in a residence. This is what I deal with in DuPage County sometimes. If a fire or "spark" hit in this residence it would be a major blaze due to all the flammables on the basement floor. This is my life, trying to prevent major electrical fires. The owner was notified & forced the tenant to clean this mess up or be evicted.

Once again I ran into an electrical service panel over a sump pump & water, highly against code, but it also has highly flammable things stored right in front of & under the panel. A fire bomb in the making. There are safety codes for electrical panel clearances, and for keeping combustibles/flammables far away from the service panel. [see photo for clearances per code]

I will help this homeowner. Most homeowners don't know the electrical codes, so this is a common mistake putting storage in front of the service panel.

I found a main utility wire burning up inside the service panel, at the main breaker, you can see the wire's insulation is melted off. It's already arcing/sparking, most of the lugs are also rusted out, and it's about to start a fire while the occupants of the home may be asleep at night. The main breaker & the service panel are now junk & it needs to be replaced/upgraded. The new service panel needs to be installed to the left & have the proper clearances per code [see photo].

There are still many houses in Addison, [& the surrounding area], just like this one that are fire traps due to the unsafe clearances around the service panel .
