طحالب السرجس البحري ( السرجاسوم )
في موسم الربيع غالباً ، تنتشر كميات كبيرة من طحالب السرجس على طول الشواطئ السورية، حيث تلقي الأمواج بها على الشواطئ، مما يشكل عائقاً أمام السباحة والصيد. ويواجه الصيادون صعوبة كبيرة في إزالة هذه الطحالب العالقة في شباكهم بنسب عالية.
فما هو طحلب السرجس؟ السرجس أو السرجاسوم هو نوع من الطحالب البنية المتطورة،يشبه النباتات في تكوينه حيث يحتوي على ساق وأوراق ممدودة وكثيفة. ينتمي السرجس البحري إلى رتبة الفوقسيات، و تتعدد أنواعه، إذ يعيش معظمها في البيئات الاستوائية بينما توجد بعض الأنواع في المناطق المعتدلة.
يتميز هذا الطحلب باحتوائه على أكياس هوائية تساعده على الطفو والاقتراب من ضوء الشمس. حتى بعد انتزاعه من القاع بفعل الأمواج، يبقى طافياً على سطح الماء بفضل هذه الأكياس، على عكس العديد من الطحالب الأخرى التي تثبت في القاع.
المشاكل الناتجة عن انتشاره الكثيف: عادةًما يظهر السرجس ويتجمع على الشواطئ بعد الأحوال الجوية الربيعية والصيفية، مسبباً إزعاجاً للسياح وزوار الشواطئ بسبب تحلله وانبعاث روائح كريهة، كما يجذب الحشرات و الرميات و المخلفات. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، يؤثر سلباً على الصيد و السباحة و السياحة .
هل يمكن الاستفادة منه؟ يُستخدم السرجس البحري في المجال الطبي نظراً لغناه بمادة اليود،حيث يدخل في علاج خمول الغدة الدرقية. كما يستخدم في مستحضرات التجميل، وفي بعض المناطق يتم تناوله كغذاء بشري، وكذلك كعلف للحيوانات وإنتاج السماد العضوي.

Sargassum Seaweed ( )
In the spring season usually, large quantities of Sargassum seaweed spread along the Syrian beaches, where the waves throw it onto the shores, creating an obstacle for swimming and fishing. Fishermen face great difficulty in removing this seaweed entangled in their nets at high rates.
So, what is Sargassum seaweed? Sargassum, or Sargassum seaweed, is a type of advanced brown algae that resembles plants in its structure, featuring a stem and elongated, dense leaves. Marine Sargassum belongs to the Fucales order, with multiple species—most of which live in tropical environments, while some are found in temperate regions.
This seaweed is distinguished by its air bladders, which help it float and approach sunlight. Even after being uprooted from the seabed by waves, it remains afloat on the water's surface thanks to these bladders, unlike many other seaweeds that stay anchored to the bottom.
Problems resulting from its dense proliferation: Sargassum typically appears and accumulates on beaches after spring and summer weather conditions, causing annoyance for tourists and beachgoers due to its decomposition and emission of foul odors. It also attracts insects, debris, and waste. Additionally, it negatively impacts fishing, swimming, and tourism.
Can it be utilized? Marine Sargassum is used in the medical field due to its richness in iodine, where it plays a role in treating hypothyroidism. It's also used in cosmetics, consumed as human food in some regions, and serves as animal feed or for producing organic fertilizer.
