Kabale University Student Semahore Announces Candidacy for Bufumbira South MP Seat in 2026

OPED: Gordon Semahore, a third-year student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration and Management Science at Kabale University, has announced his ambition to run for the Member of Parliament seat in Bufumbira South Constituency in the 2026 elections.

Semahore’s campaign will focus on providing strategic leadership and addressing the pressing issues in Bufumbira South.

“I plan to contest for the Member of Parliament seat in Bufumbira South Constituency in 2026. My campaign will aim at providing strategic leadership and addressing the pressing issues in the area,” Semahore stated.

Born on June 6, 1998, in Kisoro District, Semahore is the youngest child of the late Semahore Wilson John Rucyakatsi and Nyirabyiruka Hope. Throughout his life, Gordon has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, holding various positions such as Head Prefect of Cyanika B Primary School, Entertainment Prefect at Kabindi Secondary School, and Chairman of the School Council at Kabindi Secondary School.

Semahore contested for the LC5 Councilor seat in Cyanika Town Council, receiving 394 votes. In 2023, he ran for Guild President, securing an impressive 625 votes. Gordon has been an instrumental figure in the Kisoro District Forum for Democratic Change since 2019, serving as Secretary for Mobilization. Semahore is also a national delegate in the FDC party’s Katonga Group and President of the Kisoro Kabale University Student Association.

Drawing inspiration from renowned leaders and mentors such as Dr. Kizza Besigye of Uganda, Hon. Emmanuel Mudidi of Rwanda, Nelson Mandela of South Africa, and Mahatma Gandhi of India, Gordon has established himself as a seasoned activist and gender equality expert.

St. Allen Tops All Schools in Kigezi Region.

St. Allen’s Primary School in Kisoro Municipality has been praised for being the best performing Primary School in Kisoro and the entire Kigezi Sub Region during the just concluded Primary Leaving Examinations.

According to the School director, Mbonigaba Augustin, St. Allen’s Primary School was ranked the sixth in the entire country according to the New Vision and Daily Monitor Newspapers.

Mbonigaba attributed the success of his school to good feeding and conducive environment of tiled classrooms and dormitories which helps the learners feel safe and comfortable.

We need saints who live in the world, who get holy in the world, and who are not afraid to live in the world.

We need saints who drink coke and eat hot dogs, who are netizens, who listen to iPod.

We need saints who love the Eucharist and are not ashamed to drink a beer or eat pizza on the weekend with friends.

We need saints who like cinema, theatre, music, dance, sports.

We need social saints, open, normal, friends, cheerful, companions.

We need saints who are in the world and who can taste the pure and good things of the world, but without being worldly."

This is supposed to be us!!!
