Birds of Balestier Hill

A forgotten steep slope overgrown with wild vegetation and weeds has quietly become a thriving natural ecosystem. Left undisturbed, it now provides food, shelter, and nesting habitats for an incredible diversity of birdlife—a reminder that nature flourishes when given the space.

Observe from a distance. Respect nature's rhythms. Coexist with the wild.

Sometimes, the greatest act of conservation is simply letting nature be. 🌿

We at Ortus are grateful to experience this every day.

From vision to vitality.

One year on, this landscape has continued to grow beyond the drawings and renderings. As the trees mature and planting thrives, the spaces become richer, cooler, and more welcoming for the community.

Landscape architecture is about creating places that become better with time—and this is just the beginning. 🌳

After days of blazing heat and thunderstorms, nature rewards us with a spectacular sight ✨
The Bulbophyllum vaginatum has begun to bloom gracefully along the branches of a conserved Rain Tree within our project site.

Clusters of delicate blossoms now shimmer among the canopy — almost like tiny stars scattered across the night sky 🌙⭐
A beautiful reminder that nature always knows the perfect moment to surprise us. 🌿 , , , , , , ,

Wrapped up the week with a sumptuous Chinese New Year lunch before we close for the festive break. Good food, loud conversations, and zero talk about deadlines 😁

After lunch, we did what we do best — straight to the nursery. Walked the rows, checked stock, picked up plants, and probably bought more than we planned. No regrets.🌿🍀🌱

Ended the afternoon at Seletar Oval for tea, a slower pace, and just enjoying the company. Simple, solid, good energy all around. Grateful for the team and the work we get to do together.

Wishing everyone a Happy Chinese New Year.
Huat ah! 🧧🌿🐴
