Tree removal in progress!

Sometimes garden maintenance requires more than a simple trim.

This tree needed to be taken down, so Andrei worked on it gradually: removing the branches first, then reducing the main trunk section by section and keeping the work area under control as he went.

For jobs like this, the right equipment, a careful approach and good planning make all the difference.

This beautiful old bougainvillea had to leave its home and it felt far too special to simply cut down and throw away.

So we decided to give it another chance.

We’ve taken cuttings for propagation. Now comes the hardest part: waiting and hoping for new roots and fresh growth.

To be continued in a couple of months…

And if our cuttings are successful, we may have several young bougainvilleas looking for new homes.

🥝 A little about kiwi - and our current summer pruning project.

Kiwi is a fascinating plant. Although we often think of it simply as a fruit, botanically the kiwi fruit is actually a berry, and the plant itself is a vigorous woody vine rather than a tree.

That vigorous growth is very clear in our latest client project. Over time, the kiwi vines had developed into a dense network of shoots, making the area difficult to manage and reducing light and airflow through the plants.

Summer pruning helps bring this growth back under control. The aim is not simply to cut everything back, but to preserve the useful structure, remove unnecessary growth and create better conditions for the fruit and for next year’s crop.

Male and female kiwi plants are also treated differently: male vines are usually pruned after flowering, while fruiting female vines need more careful management around the developing berries.

This is only the first stage of the project, so we’ll share the progress and final result soon.

Not every garden job is flat, easy and straightforward

This time, Andrei was working on a steep rock wall area - carefully clearing dry growth and unwanted plants from a difficult-to-access slope while keeping the main structure and established planting intact.

These are the kinds of jobs that take more than tools: they take balance, patience, precision and a lot of care.

We love projects like this because even small improvements can completely change how a space feels - cleaner, lighter and easier to maintain.

From a clear client drawing to three custom raised beds - built from start to finish by Andrei.

The client provided precise measurements and a detailed plan. Andrei then:
