Research wall / work in progress.

The first couple of weeks of the Master’s in Painting program at FBAUP have been an interesting return to a familiar place, seen now from a new stage in my life. I’m looking forward to the next two years of pushing my practice and knowledge further, learning, experimenting, and seeing how my work and identity continue to evolve.

This is how my studio is looking so far. Still very bare, but slowly starting to become my space of work.

The Weight of Staying (2026)
Acrylic on canvas
Size: 50 x 20 cm

I’ve been rather absent here over the past few months. I spent most of this summer observing, reading, writing and collecting, rather than painting. There was a lot to take in, and I didn’t feel like putting much of it onto a canvas.

However, yesterday, on the last day of August, I picked up a brush again for the first time in a while. Unlike most of my usual work, I didn’t plan or sketch anything beforehand; I just went with my feelings and instincts. This was the result. Today also marks the start of a new chapter, as I have started working as a Marketing and Design Strategist.

In two weeks, I will finally begin my Master’s in Painting, which I have been looking forward to since the beginning of the year. After a strange and intense summer, it feels good to have a few new beginnings ahead, and I’m excited to see where they take me.

“What I Brought from Loulé” (2026)
Pencil on paper.
21 x 15 cm

A small update. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been preparing for my MFA in Painting, which I will be starting in September. I have spent most of my time reading books and manga, building visual archives, filling sketchbooks, photographing houses and developing the research that will shape my next body of work.

There are no finished paintings yet, but I feel that this stage is just as important.

This sketch, inspired by a photograph I took in Loulé this summer, is one of many studies exploring the relationship between figures, memory and domestic architecture.
