When a Bad Installation Gets Blamed on the Material

Today, I saw an aluminum installation in extremely poor condition.
Open joints. Visible dents. Clear misalignment.

The first reaction people usually have is simple.
“Aluminum is bad.”

But that is not the truth.

There are only two real reasons situations like this happen.

→ The client was pushed toward the cheapest option
Price became the only deciding factor, not application, thickness, alloy grade, or environment.

→ The wrong aluminum system was used
Either due to lack of technical knowledge, or worse, to reduce cost and increase margins.

Aluminum itself is not the problem.

The problem is wrong selection, wrong fabrication, and wrong guidance.

When aluminum is chosen correctly and fabricated professionally, it can perform reliably for decades.
But when:

→ Thickness is compromised
→ Alloy grade is ignored
→ Proper reinforcement is skipped
→ Installation standards are not followed

The result looks exactly like what I saw today.

This is where responsibility matters.

✔ Clients deserve honest, technical guidance
✔ Fabricators must recommend what is right, not just what sells
✔ Sellers must stop pushing cheap solutions for serious applications

In construction, a cheap decision is often the most expensive mistake.

If we want better projects, we need higher standards.
Education. Transparency. Accountability.

Because poor advice does not just damage one project.
It damages trust in the entire industry.
