Another progress update from our 7 Marla house project in L Block, Gulberg Greens, Islamabad, with a 50% basement.

The basement slab has been cast, and the ground floor brick masonry has now reached the lintel level. We have also completed the lintel beam casting.

The project is progressing well, and InshaAllah, we’ll keep moving forward with the remaining construction work and share more updates along the way.

How to Protect RCC Walls from Seepage?

RCC walls alone are not enough to protect a basement from seepage.

At PRAXIS Construction, we use external plaster, zero-size chips and waterproof chemical coating to protect basement walls. Depending on the project, we also use bitumen sheet protection.

Seepage around the skirting level is a common problem in houses. But many times, the problem actually starts much lower in the wall.

Proper protection above the DPC level is an important construction detail that can help prevent moisture from travelling upward.

At PRAXIS Construction, we install a bitumen sheet above the DPC level before brick masonry continues. This creates an additional moisture barrier between the lower masonry and the wall above.
The idea is simple: stop moisture at the lower level before it has a chance to travel upward and appear as dampness or seepage around the skirting and finished walls.

We have followed this method across our projects, and to date, we have not received a complaint related to seepage from this particular detail.

Good construction is not only about what you see after the house is finished. It is also about the details that are hidden behind the finished work.
