What’s True Wednesday? I Design MYTH vs. FACT:

MYTH: Renovations are always cheaper than building new.

FACT: Renovations can involve hidden conditions, demolition, structural limitations, and extensive MEPF modifications.

Good design isn't about automatically choosing renovation or new construction. It's about understanding the building, evaluating the options, and finding the solution that provides the best value in the long run.

"Because sometimes, the most economical building is the one you renovate and sometimes, it's the one you build new."

Design Inspiration Monday!:
Guulabaa — “Architecture That Helps Bring Back a Forest”

What if a tourism destination could do more than attract visitors? This approach can be a valuable inspiration for the Philippines, a country rich in biodiversity and cultural heritage.

Guulabaa, meaning “Place of Koala,” is an inspiring example of how architecture, landscape, conservation, Indigenous knowledge, and tourism can work together. Instead of treating nature as merely a backdrop, the project makes the forest and its wildlife part of the experience and the story.

Perhaps the future of Philippine tourism is not simply about building more destinations, but about creating places where tourism helps people appreciate, understand, and regenerate the environments and cultures that make each place unique.

"Let architecture do more than create beautiful destinations. Let it tell the story of a place, connect people to its environment, and inspire them to protect its unique culture and wildlife."

Day 5 in China: Finishing Strong 🇨🇳🪑

Our final day in China may have been our travel day, but we weren't ready to slow down just yet.

With our luggage in tow, we made one last stop to visit a furniture supplier and tour their impressive factory.

We're heading home inspired, grateful, and excited to bring these ideas and materials into our future projects.

Day 4 in China: Acoustics, Doors & Behind the Factory Walls 🇨🇳🏭

Today may have been one of our shortest schedules in terms of supplier visits, we met with only two suppliers but it turned into a full day of meaningful discussions.

One of the highlights of the day was visiting their factories and seeing firsthand how these materials are manufactured, quality-checked, and carefully packed for shipment.

Sometimes, fewer meetings lead to deeper collaboration and today was a perfect example of that.

Day 3 of 5 in China: Kitchens, Lighting & Tiles 🇨🇳✨

Today was all about refining the details. We met with kitchen suppliers, explored lighting solutions, and reviewed even more tile selections to ensure every material aligns with our design vision.

And of course, no sourcing trip is complete without requesting material samples!

Day 2 in China was all about staying focused. 🇨🇳

Today, we spent the day reviewing and approving wall panel materials, working closely with suppliers to ensure every selection aligns with our project's vision.
It was a long and tiring day, but our generous hosts made it memorable by treating us to another wonderful Chinese meal.
