Artworks created for our theater production Kunswelo, visual interpretations of its world, its characters, and the emotional weight they carry.
From grief inside a dim room, to the cost of a vote, to the fragile homes that hold their lives together, these images are extensions of the story onstage.”

Introducing "Mga Anak ng Umaga"

This piece shows kids coming together, building their dreams, and creating a place filled with hope and imagination.

“Mga Anak ng Umaga” reflects the beauty of childhood...full of wonder, stories, and resilience. It reminds us that everyone’s journey is unique, and that through creativity, we can find healing, connection, and strength.

This has been a meaningful experience, highlighting that art is not just about recognition but about sharing our stories, inspiring others, and embracing our shared humanity.

Let’s celebrate the creativity and resilience of every child, and the limitless possibilities that come with hope and imagination.

Title: Mga Bangkero Sa Kaliboyboy
Artist: Zen Marcus Rodas
Size: 32"x"32 inches
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Year: 2024

Artwork Description

A symphony of laughter and creation unfolds along the gentle Kaliboyboy River. Here, a group of children armed with nothing but their wits and boundless imagination transforms wood scraps into vessels of wonder. Each boat becomes an extension of its maker, bursting with color, form, and unrestrained creativity.

As the final touches are set, the river turns into their racecourse, the boats skimming across the water like fleeting dreams. This painting is a poetic ode to childhood’s raw, untamed spirit—a time when imagination had no borders and creation was free from rules, expectations, and the fear of imperfection.

It contrasts adulthood’s silent restraint—the self-imposed cage of societal norms, moral frameworks, and forgotten joys. More than a setting, the river becomes a metaphor for life’s flow—a reminder of what we lose when we stop embracing the wonder within us.

Title: Umuwi na ang Musmos na Bata
By Zen Marcus M. Rodas

A lone eye watches—a window to the past. A child reaches out, bridging time, longing for an embrace once lost. This painting captures the quiet power of self-acceptance, where healing begins and the past is finally held close.

Medium: Acrylic Paint
23" x 19"

My work isn't just an attempt to give form to these experiences—it's a bold declaration, a defiant shout into the void.
