Rainwater management is one of the solutions to flooding. This is an important part of sustainable design that every household and community must adapt.

Design strategies:
1. Minimize impervious areas by using open-grid pavers, porous paving, pervious concrete and green roofs to increase pervious surfaces
2. Control rainwater by creating rain gardens, dry ponds and bioswales – slowdown runoff and allows natural environment to infiltrate and clean water pollutants
3. Incorporate rainwater management into site design implementing multipurpose features such as streets with bioswales to collect and hold rainwater
4. Harvest rainwater: Collect it and use it later for nonpotable uses, such as irrigation, custodial uses, and flushing toilets and urinals.
