Before & After, same site, 24 hours apart.

Typhoon season hit while the roof deck was still
in progress. Water pooled across the slab.

This is normal at this stage of construction.
What's not normal is ignoring it.

We drained the deck, cleared the site, and moved
immediately to waterproofing preparation, before
the next rain comes.

This is what proactive project management looks
like. Not waiting for damage. Acting before it
happens.

Coffee in hand, project presentation on the tablet,
and a full day on site ahead.

This is the part of the job nobody puts in the
Portfolio, the early mornings, the long drives,
the hours before the work officially begins.

But this is also where the thinking happens.

By the time we arrive on site, every question has
already been answered. Every detail reviewed.
Every decision confirmed.

3 years ago today, this project marked the start of X.PROJECTS - my very first project as an Architect. ๐Ÿค

Looking back, this project will always be special, not only coz it was my first, but because it came with my first excitement, first project presentation, first set of revisions, design approval, mistakes, doubts, deadline pressure, project turnover, and yes, even the first time a project made me cry.

A lot of firsts happened here, and I learned a lot from all of it. I saw how much Iโ€™m capable of, and it made me ready for whatโ€™s ahead.

โšœ ๐—™๐—Ÿ๐—ข๐—ฅ๐—˜๐—ฆ ๐—ฅ๐—˜๐—ฆ๐—œ๐——๐—˜๐—ก๐—–๐—˜โšœ

๐Ÿ“This project is a major renovation of a 30-yr old 3-storey house. Once construction started, a lot of things came up that werenโ€™t part of the original plan. There were existing conditions we had to deal with, additional works that needed to be done, and changes along the way.

This project really humbled me. It taught me about working closely with the client and understanding what they want, (coz yes, a client can change their mind 100 times in a day), keeping your composure when things donโ€™t go as planned, and being flexible enough to adjust. Because once construction starts, you really have to be open for tons of revisions, changes, and additional work. ๐Ÿ˜‰

An architect sees protection from rain, heat, drainage, ventilation, maintenance, and the overall life of the building.

In Northern Luzon, roof design matters even more. Rain, strong weather conditions, terrain, and climate all influence how a roof should be designed.
