THE IMPORTANCE OF ROADSIDE DRAINS

Roadside drains are one of the most important parts of any road and infrastructure system. While many people focus only on the road surface, the truth is that a good drainage system is what protects and preserves the road for years to come. Without proper drainage, even the strongest roads will eventually crack, weaken, and fail.

Roadside drains are designed to collect and channel rainwater away from roads, buildings, and surrounding properties. Their main purpose is to prevent water from sitting on or beneath the road surface.

A properly constructed drain helps to:

-Prevent flooding and water build-up
-Protect roads from erosion and potholes
-Reduce damage to nearby homes and properties
-Improve public safety for vehicles and pedestrians
-Extend the lifespan of roads and infrastructure

Progress underway on the installation of a culvert fitted with a heavy duty metal grate designed to withstand vehicle load and ensure long term durability. Works also include the foundation and construction of a 27 metre drainage system that connects directly into the existing drain network to effectively manage water flow and reduce flooding within the area.

We sincerely thank the National Capital District Commission City Maintenance Unit (NCDC_CMU) for giving an Indigenous owned company the opportunity to deliver this important infrastructure project.

Through this project, employment has been created for 15 individuals, directly supporting and feeding 15 families. Opportunities like this not only improve infrastructure but also empower local families and strengthen our communities.
