This project was an absolute treat. We felt incredibly grateful for the opportunity to renovate a pond area that was once featured in New Zealand House & Garden magazine.
Spanning several weeks, it was quite the undertaking. The original pond was heavily overgrown, filthy, and plagued by a leaking liner. To breathe new life into the space, we cleared away the choked vegetation, drained the water, and replaced both the liner and the timber edging boards.
Next came the challenge of keeping the water oxygenated. A standard off-the-shelf water feature simply wouldn’t cut it; because of the pond's rectangular shape, we needed something subtle that wouldn't detract from the stunning view beyond. Drawing inspiration from a unique design showcased at the Chelsea Flower Show—which isn't commercially available—we collaborated with our friends at Stirling Metalworkers to bring a custom vision to life.
They fabricated a sleek, minimalist water feature crafted from Corten steel.
We reinstated the surrounding boulders, softened the landscape with structural grasses, and couldn't be more thrilled with the final transformation. In fact, we loved the process so much that we've already booked our next Cotten steel water feature project
